Championship Successes for Lewis Byng!

NAC second claim shot put athlete Lewis Byng continues to dominate in the U20M Shot.

On 5th June, Lewis threw a huge 19.14m PB at the University of Birmingham Midweek Open Series. This extended his lead as UK No 1 by over a metre, and is the second longest U20M All Time throw.

More importantly for Lewis, this saw him clear the UKA European U20 Qualifying Standard (18.85m) and secures his place in the GB U20 Team for the European Championships in Boras, Sweden on 18th – 21st July.

Lewis then went on to compete at the England Athletics U20 / U23 Championships in Bedford on 22/23rd June. In the Saturday U20 (6kg) shot Lewis won secured gold. His 18.94 not only won him the title, it again bettered the Euro qualifier mark.

On the Sunday Lewis competed in the U23M (7.25kg) Shot and secured yet another win with a PB of 17.16m at this weight. Taking a second to remember Lewis is still a 17 year old athlete, we cannot help but wonder how bright the future is for this young man.
