More success for Northampton AC lower age YDL Team
Saturday 18th May saw our lower age YDL athletes travelling to Derby for their 2nd round match. Building on our success at the first match, improved weather conditions saw Northampton win with a huge margin of 215 points, to retain the League lead.
Excellent sprint performances on the track saw a clean sweep of victories for our U13 girls with wins for Savannah Morgan & Ava Thomas at both the 75m & 150m events, Ava achieving new PBs in both races. The girls went on to dominate the 4x100m relay alongside Ruby Curtis-Free and Ella Darby in an impressive team PB of 57.34s. Xcena Pasqualin achieved a PB for a close 4th place in the U15G 100m. Shanice Ighalo was again victorious, winning in a 3 way photograph finish in the U15 200m with a PB of 27.36, with a PB for Erika Sakka for a 3rd place in the B race. The U15 girls 4x300m relay team achieved a 3rd place.
The boys 100m saw third places and PB’s for both Finlay Smith (13.10) and Hamish Thomas (13.22) at U15, and William Drage at U13. In the 200m Hamish took another 3rd place with a PB, with George Cutler achieving a PB to come 3rd in the B string. The U13’s saw a 3rd place in the A string for William Drage, and a B string PB victory for Lewis Nutt (29.99). Hamish Thomas also achieved a 2nd place PB in the 300m B string, with Ollie Buchan achieving a PB for the A string, as well as a PB in the 800m. The boys 4x100m relay teams came third for both age groups.
Continuing the track success in the middle-distance events. Ella Darby took the U13G 800m win with a PB (2:32.73). The 800m also saw 3rd place PB for Jessica Kempton & 2nd place PB for Flora Goatley for the U15’s. Lara Turner took a clear 7 second win in the U13G 1200m with a PB of 4:09.40 and Olivia Willison won the B race for the same event. The host of PB performances continued in the 1500m with PBs for Joshua Robson at U15 plus Lewis Robson and Nathan Lamb at U13.
The Hurdles saw B string victories from Katie Enefer for the U13 girls, with a PB in the 75m of 14.89 and Samuel Palmer for the U13 boys, with Zac Pasqualin achieving a PB for the A string race. The success continued at U15, with an A string win for Xena Pasqualin, and a B sting PB win for Erika Sakka. Luke Turner achieved a PB to take the second place for the U15 boys.
A tough competition across all ages in the High Jump saw PB’s from Gabriella Miles for the U15 girls along with Ella Darby and Ruby Curtis-Free for the U13’s. In the Long Jump, George Cutler achieved a PB for the U15’s, with William Drage placing 2nd for the U13 A String and Zac Pasqualin also taking 2nd for the B string. Shanice Ighalo achieved a huge PB of 4.99m to win the U15 girls A string, with Erika Sakka repeating the win with a PB in the B string. Savannah Morgan and Ella Darby both won their respective events for the U13’s.
The Throws events opened with the Hammer; a wining PB of 24.94m for William Clarke took the U15 boys’ event, with Lily Carlaw and Lottie Creak coming second in the corresponding U15 girls competition.
The Javelin saw another PB for Shanice Ighalo to win the U15 girls B string, with Lottie Creak taking second place in the A string. Thomas Lambeth came third in the U15 A string, with a B string win for Luke Turner. Samuel Palmer and Jasper Smith both achieved PB’s in the U13 boys’ competition, with Georgina Roseblade taking third place for the u13 girls, with a PB from Lara Turner to win the B string.
In the U13 girls Shot Put, Ava Thomas achieved a PB to win the B string, with a PB for Georgina Roseblade giving her a fine 2nd place in the A string. Jasper Smith hit a PB for second place for the U13m A string, with Kai Scott coming 3rd in the B string. Josh Tutt took a clear win for the u15M A string, with William Clarke taking the win for the B string. The u15 girls followed suit with A & B sting wins from Lily Carlaw and Xena Pasqualin with a PB of 7.27.
William Clarke and Josh Tutt replicated their Shot performances with A & B string wins in the Discus, Josh Tutt achieving a winning margin of over 12m with a PB of 33.21m. The U15 girls matched this, with a B string win and PB of 26.23m for Lottie Creak, and a PB of 36.56m for Lily Carlaw, a UK leading throw. Lily now sits at the top of the UK Rankings for both Shot and Discus for U15 girls.

The final League match will take place at Derby on Sunday 23rd June after which the team will progress to the Midlands Area Promotion Match in July in a bid to qualify for the Premier Division in 2020.
