National Championships Weekend Round Up
22nd to 23rd February 2020 was busy weekend of National Competition of for NAC’s athletes!
Spar British Athletics Indoor Championships 2020
First up Bailey Swift travelled to Glasgow to compete at the Spar British Athletics Indoor Championships in the 200m. Bailey achieved a SB of 22.24s to finish 4th in his heat. A phenomenal achievement for Bailey have qualified to compete at this level! Congratulations Bailey.

England Athletics U15 / U17 / U20 Championship
Six of NAC’s athletes and four 2nd claim athletes qualified for the England Athletics Indoor age group championships in Sheffield.
Day 1 saw sprinter Savannah Morgan compete in the 60m as an U15. Savannah finished 2nd in her heat with an 8.03s and qualify for the semi-finals. Savannah improved on this time in the semi-final race to achieve a PB of 7.93s to qualify for the final. In the final Savannah replicated her 8.03s from her qualifying heat to finish in 8th place overall. This is a fantastic achievement for Savannah, as she was competing as an U15 for the first time despite the fact that she remains an U13 athlete.
Shanice Ighalo competed during Day 1 in the U15G Long Jump with a best jump of 4.26m in large field of 17 athletes.
2nd claim athlete Gemma Jones (Corby AC) won her heat in the U20W 400m with a 56.60s and improved her performance in the final with a PB of 55.93s to take the Bronze Medal. Well done Gemma!
Day 2 began in the field with a trio of U20M Shot Athletes coached by Stuart Carlaw. NAC’s Chris Dyrmishi finished in 8th place with a best throw of 14.09m. NAC 2nd Claim athlete Alfie Williams (West Norfolk) finished in 9th place with 12.65m. In Championship Best Performance setting form, 2nd claim athlete Lewis Byng (Stratford-upon-Avon) took the title with a 3rd round best throw of 18.69m breaking the 2005 record of 18.57m. Congratulations Lewis!
Back on the track where NAC’s Will Dean competed in the U20M 200m. Will qualified for the semi-finals in 3rd position in his heat with an indoor PB of 22.43s. Will built upon this in the semi-finals to finish 3rd in his field and achieve a PB of 22.38s narrowly missing out on qualification to the final. A great first National Indoor Championship for Will.
Finally, another great championship for Thomas Wilcock in the U20M 60M Hurdles. Tom won his heat with a PB of 7.95s. Tome went on to achieve the Silver medal in the final with another incredible performance of 7.99s. This puts Tom in 2nd place on the UK Rankings, and 3rd All Time on the Welsh Rankings! Congratulations Tom.
