About Us

Our Ethos

Our primary objective is to provide a welcoming, progressive, inclusive and competitive athletics club for Northampton. We have formed strategic partnerships with other local sporting organisations and schools and are committed to providing all athletic disciplines for junior, senior and masters athletes.

We firmly believe that volunteers are the lifeblood of our club. We are committed to the continued development of our coaches and technical officials and for this to underpin the growth of the club.

Our Structure

The club is organised to give athletes a progression pathway from a junior new starter all the way through to masters athlete. The structure includes:

  • Introduction to Athletics: Multi 365 – A taster for ages starting at 8 years old to see if athletics is the right sport for them.
  • Interchange Groups – For ages 12 and above focussing on developing all round athletic skills in one discipline.
  • Multi-Events Groups – From age 12 onwards athletes continue to train in these groups in order to develop skills across multiple different events. Athletes in these groups get support from specialist event coaches.
  • Sprints Progression and Performance Groups – Age 14 onwards aimed at athletes that are beginning to specialise or have early specialisation in sprints events over 100, 200, 300 and 400m.
  • Jumps Progression and Performance Groups – Age 14 onwards aimed at athletes that are beginning to specialise or have early specialisation in Long Jump. Triple Jump and High Jump events.
  • Throws Progression and Performance Groups – Age 14 onwards aimed at athletes that are beginning to specialise or have early specialisation in Javelin, Discus, Shot and Hammer.
  • Middle Distance Progression and Performance Groups – For age 14 onwards athletes that are already specialised or have early specialisation in middle distance running: 800, 1500, 3000, 5000, steeplechase and cross country.

Event groups may have additional training sessions throughout the week which is communicated by individual coaches
